Why neutralize? 

Combustion Reaction: In high-efficiency combustion systems such as gas appliances (boilers, heaters), diesel emergency generators, gas turbines, and gas generators, flue gases cool below the dew point, causing water vapor to condense and react with CO2, NOx, and SOx to form corrosive acids (e.g., carbonic, nitric, sulfuric)
